Editorial Policy

Victim Support Taiwan (VST) is an independent, non-profit, bilingual public knowledge platform dedicated to victims’ rights and effective remedies, with a strong focus on international comparison and Taiwan’s institutional context. Our purpose is public education. We aim to publish content that is citable, traceable, and maintainable over time.

1. What we publish (Scope)

  • International standards and instruments on victims’ rights (UN, regional norms, policy tools)
  • Contextualized notes on Taiwan’s laws and practice (not official interpretation)
  • Research updates and literature briefings with traceable sources
  • Commentary and analysis grounded in rights-based, institutional reasoning

2. How we write (Standards)

  • Accuracy & verifiability: We prioritize primary/official sources and provide links where possible.
  • Rights-based approach: We treat victims as rights-holders and avoid moralizing narratives.
  • Clear separation of text vs. editorial guidance: Full texts are reproduced verbatim; overviews provide contextual guidance.
  • Do-no-harm: For violence, GBV, and child-related topics, we avoid identifiable personal data and unnecessary graphic detail.

3. Authorship & responsibility

  • Where content is signed, it reflects the author’s independent judgment.
  • VST content may include legal texts, policy documents, institutional overviews, or commentary. However, it does not constitute official interpretation or legal advice.
  • VST content does not represent any government agency, international organization, or commissioned service network.

  • Significant updates will be marked with a revision note or date.
